Swimming/Lifesaving Merit Badge:

We have looked over the Swimming Merit Badge Requirements and are concerned about the Clothes Inflation!
-Clothes Inflation is the most difficult requirement in the badge for some scouts. We dedicate one class to just Clothes Inflation. We also demonstrate the requirement two times. When we do the requirement we do one on one instruction with five scouts in the water at a time.

How do we know if our scout passed?
-Swimming/Lifesaving Merit Badge we give each scout their blue card back at the last class.
-Records are available during class. Your more then welcome to see the records. Just ask!
-Records are posted on this website (password protected). Some troops have access!

If the classes are finished and my scout didn't pass, what can he do to complete the class?
-Swimming Merit Badge can be worked on during Lifesaving Merit Badge/Learners
-Lifesaving Merit Badge will have to be worked on outside the class setting whcih the scout has to pay for himself and two others to be taught the merit badge.

Our scout has a partial in Swimming or Lifesaving Merit Badge, can he finish the merit badge in your classes?
-Yes! Let me know which requirements he has to complete still and I'll let you know which class the scout needs to attend. I might still test him on one or two other requirements just to review some skills!

Other:

Do we have to stay and watch the class?
-No. Your welcome to stay though.

Can we stay and watch the class?
-Yes there is stadium seating above the pool area.

Our scout/troop has misplaced the merit badge blue card what can we do?
-I have kept the records of the counselor portion since I started teaching in 2003. Just contact me and we can work out a way to get a new blue card filled out.

My scout would like to take Swimming Merit Badge or Lifesaving Merit Badge out of the class. Is that possible?
-I do teach it out of the class but would encourage them to take the class. Scouts learn by watching others! If taught outside the class then we need to find a pool and the scout has to pay for himself and two others to be taught the merit badge.
